Botanical name: Linum usitatissimum

Flax is a small, oval brown seed.

Flax seed is an ancient cultivated crop from Mesopotamia times, grown for its oil seeds and fibre. It's chewy seeds are packed full of nutrients, Omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, minerals, and essential vitamins. It has been reported that it helps to reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes.

Nutritional Value: Contains phosphorus, Selenium, Magnesium, Fibre, Manganese, vitamin B1, and is rich in Omega 3. Flax seed needs to be freshly milled or soaked for the body to be able to absorb the nutrients.
