Cumin
Botanical name: Cuminum cyminum
Cumin is a small grass-like seed. Widely popular for it's distinctive aroma and flavour, Cumin seed is a commonly found ingredient in the North African, Middle Eastern, Western Chinese, Indian, Cuban and Northern Mexican cuisine. The seeds contain numerous phyto-chemicals that are reported to have antioxidant, carminative and anti-fratulent properties.
Nutritional Value: These seeds are an excellent source of dietary fibre, are low in saturated fats and Sodium, and very low in Cholesterol. They contain Thiamin, Phosphorus, Potassium and Copper, and are a very good source of Calcium, Iron, Magnesium and Manganese.
